In the framework of TeachBlue project, a training workshop organised by CMMI took place on the 3-7 September in Larnaka, bringing together educators from Portugal, Poland, Greece and Cyprus to explore an innovative, future-oriented Marine and Ocean Literacy Toolkit.
Designed for children aged 4–8, the toolkit translates ocean literacy concepts into accessible and inspiring learning experiences, laying the foundations of lifelong ocean stewardship from the earliest stages of education, in alignment with UNESCO’s Ocean Literacy Framework, SDG 14: Life Below Water.
During the workshop, educators not only explored the toolkit, (comprised of a handbook, e-learning platform, board games, and immersive 360° videos), but also put theory into practice through the use of interactive modules and hands-on activities.
The whole learning experience was further enriched with field trips to the Thalassa Museum, the Cape Greko Environmental and Educational Centre, and Ammos Kambouri Beach.
CMMI would like to thank all partners and trainers for making this workshop a success and for equipping educators with the tools to inspire the next generation of ocean-conscious citizens.
