A new research, which compared 26 locations around the world, shows that Limassol, along with Sydney, Malta, Luxembourg and Vienna are the top locations for those wishing to retire abroad. A retired couple, based on the report, is primarily looking for security, healthcare and a likeminded community.

The analysis also demonstrates that Hong Kong and London are the best locations for entrepreneurs, while Luxembourg and Vienna are the best places for families. According to the report, entrepreneurs are interested in airport access and entertainment on tap, while families prioritise good schools and outdoor activities.

This global lifestyle review was carried out by the real estate firm Knight Frank and accountancy and business advisory firm BDO. The analysis looks at a variety of factors including personal safety, political risk, education, cost of healthcare and leisure pursuits.

The importance of tax implications of moving to another country is also noted as an important factor. Cyprus, along with Australia, Austria, Brazil and Canada are considered countries with favourable tax for new residents.
