Polemidia: access to Limassol sewerage system is now imminent

The contractor that built the 2nd industrial plant of the Limassol-Amathus Sewerage Board (SALA) in Kato Polemidia, has applied for its formal delivery. The application is evaluated by the Consulting Engineer and if no serious problems are found, then the hand overwill be finalized, SALA Director Yiannis Tsouloftas, told "Entrepreneurial Limassol". Mr. Tsouloftas emphasized that the SALA is proceeding immediately with the issuance of a decree connecting Kato and Pano Polemidia, north of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue to the Limassol Hospital, with a population of 24 thousand people, where a network is already in place.

In the decree for connection, the streets to be connected will be mentioned by name and applications will begin to be received, for the connection of housing units and other premises. Yiannis Tsouloftas was confident that there will be no delays, indicating that it depends to a large extent on the owners themselves when they make their application to connect. Large facilities of the Water Development Department are already operating withing the plant, which will receive the tertiary-treated water and channel it to, traditionally agricultural, areas of western Limassol, for irrigation purposes.

The total amount of recycled water that will be produced is estimated at 3.000 cubic meters per day. SALA said those that can be connected to the sewage system include the Limassol Hospital and the large Shopping Center (former Orphanidis Hypermarket), which can now carry out the necessary preparatory work.

The large pumping station in the Zakaki area will also be ready in the first half of 2023, thereby rendering possible connection to the 2nd plant, of Zakaki itself, as well as the Port of Limassol, the Mall and the Casino resort. As Mr. Tsouloftas told us, the Mall and the Casino resort are at an advanced stage with their preparations, while at the port a process is underway to create a pre-treatment system, so that the sewage can then be channeled into the public sewerage system.
