Serious investment interest for the the

There is great investment interest in the area between the Marina and the port of Limassol and it is urgent for the state to build the necessary infrastructure, so that this can be successful, and the only degraded seaside of the city can be upgraded, according to Limassol Mayor Nicos Nicolaides.  Aktaia Odos (the main project) will be a road of mild traffic and the last part of it a large coastal pedestrian street, accessible only for buses.

In the "City" of Limassol, large mixed developments will be promoted, but the industrial cultural heritage will also be preserved, with museums and cultural sites.  By taking advantage of the incentives for high buildings, large public parking spaces will be ensured, which will support cultural activities. According to the Mayor, relevant applications have already been submitted, such as for the sound museum, which will be created on private initiative in the carobs storage facility.

Nicos Nicolaides described as an important development the possibility of building the new archaeological museum on Aktaia Odos (in an embankment in the sea area towards the marina), adding that the idea is to erect an emblematic building, symbol and landmark for the city, visible from sea and land. He also expressed the hope that the Museum will speed up the creation of the infrastructure in the area in order to promote the multi-billion euro projects, which are in the process of securing planning permission.

The Mayor stressed that large plots have been put under the microscope of investors. The local Authority has issued a planning permit, a second is in the process of being issued and three others have been proposed to it in the form of preliminary considerations. "The investment interest is huge and with the formation of the infrastructure, will open the way for the realization of the vision of Limassol, for a new city within the city", he said. With the long-awaited publication of the revised Center Area Plan, the master plan will be drawn up on the basis of this by the Town Planning Department for the infrastructure works and the relocation of boat repair facilities (Karnagio), for which the Municipality requested that the necessary study be carried out urgently.
