Ypsonas Municipality: New industries in the works

New, considerable-size industries are moving to industrial zones and areas that fall within the boundaries of the Municipality of Ypsonas and the Local Authority seeks their smooth integration and operation, with mutual benefit. As Mayor Pantelis Georgiou stated to "Entrepreneurial Limassol", a large bottling industry is coming to Ypsonas from Lebanon. It will bottle with juice and beer to begin, with the bottling of wine also likely in due course.

As the Mayor told us, the company will initially produce 3.000 containers a year which will gradually increase to 10.000. The investment in infrastructure will exceed € 8 million and will create jobs for local people. At the same time, the owner of the factory bought land in order to build 17 houses, to cater to the needs of staff who will arrive from abroad and will settle in Ypsonas.
The Mayor also announced the arrival of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Greece, which will build a drug manufacturing unit.

Furthermore, a company already based in Ypsonas, is expanding its activities in construction with 3D printers. The Municipality cooperates with it in a European program that concerns the placement in public spaces of furniture from recyclable plastic, produced by 3D printers. Meanwhile, three large producers of concrete will move from the British Bases to the industrial zone in Vati (Ypsonas territory), as the British authorities are terminating their operation in the bases’ territory. The Municipality (Ypsonas) is carrying out works in the area to be used by the companies, with Pantelis Georgiou estimating the movement of as many 400 concrete mixers and 800 trucks with raw materials daily.

Mr. Georgiou stressed that the Municipal Council does not see the industrial areas and zones as being in any way undesirable and is keen on a mutually beneficial relationship with them. "We have said that the industries are part of Ypsonas, they will not leave and we must take the necessary actions in order to coexist with mutual benefit".
