Educational Activities in Schools for the European Maritime Day

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of the "European Maritime Day in My Country", carried out a series of visits to primary schools in Limassol under the auspices of the Shipping Deputy Ministry. The ‘European Maritime Day’, established in 2008 by the European Commission, is celebrated every year with actions and policies related to the sea and the sustainable blue growth. Limassol has been chosen by the EU as the European maritime city to host the celebrations in 2026.

This year, the visits to primary schools were primarily aimed at educating students on issues related to marine biodiversity and the challenges faced by marine organisms due to human activity. During the visits, students were invited to create drawings of marine life and participate in educational games to better understand the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, recycling, and reducing plastic waste. These activities not only provided them with knowledge and experience but also inspired them to become responsible citizens who respect the environment, particularly the seas, which are a precious resource for Cyprus and the planet as a whole.

This action is part of the European project CMMI - MaRITeC-X, in which the Limassol Chamber participates as a partner.
