The acceleration of knowledge transfer and the commercial exploitation of research results produced by local ecosystem actors is requested
The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) proceeded to conclude a Contract with the Italian Organization META Group Srl for the operation of the Central Knowledge Transfer Office within the RIF.
The start of activities of the Contract is scheduled for May 2, 2023 and will be completed in December 2028.
The operation of the Central Knowledge Transfer Office is one of the investments of the National Plan "Cyprus - Tomorrow" with the aim:
• To support the development of capacities and skills for knowledge transfer and commercial exploitation of research results at a national level.
• To provide knowledge transfer services to Research & Innovation projects implemented by Cypriot entities and to support their commercial exploitation, enhancing their impact on the local economy and society.
In his statement, the General Director of IEK, Mr. Theodoros Loukaidis said: "The collaboration with a leading Group like META Group brings us one step closer to achieving the strategic goals set for the commercial exploitation of research results in Cyprus and at the same time, it contributes to the creation of an entrepreneurial culture within academic and research institutions, facilitating the transfer of results from laboratories to the market, as well as the development of new products and services by businesses. The services of the Central Office of Knowledge Transfer will be provided free of charge and will be available to all actors of the ecosystem under the relevant state aid regulations.
