Following discussions for the development of the Cyprus Marine Observation Network as a Critical Infrastructure, the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) organised in Larnaca the second edition of the ‘Cyprus Marine Observation Network Workshop’, bringing together potential stakeholders and giving them the floor to engage into some fruitful discussions and exchange of ideas on how to expand CyMON into a National Network that will include all relevant fixed and non-fixed platforms and other observatory and monitoring systems.
At the event, the latest findings in oceanography were presented based on state-of-the-art technologies, the equivalent networks in other EU countries, as well as the latest updates on CMMI’s buoy developments and other data acquisition systems.
CyMON will cover the sea areas of the Republic of Cyprus and the data being collected will become available to the wider public, including stakeholders with national responsibilities.
