New partnerships ''explode'' the Passenger Transport Company’s passenger numbers

While the effort for a comprehensive reform of Public Transport in the city and province of Limassol, operated by the Passenger Transport Company is progressing, important new partnerships have emerged, which increase the number of passengers and expand the areas that the company is called upon to serve. Cooperation with the Casino resort has already begun, which gives an even more important role to the coastal line and all the lines that start from the area of "My Mall Limassol" and the new Port, Passenger Transport Company advisor Petros Theocharidis told "Entrepreneurial Limassol".

Passenger Transport Company and the "City of Dreams Mediterranean" reached a preliminary agreement for the transportation to and from the Casino of its 900 employees, whose accommodation is on the coastal avenue. At the same time, the "explosion" in the arrivals of cruise ships at the Passenger Terminal of "DP World Limassol", has brought such numbers of passengers for the urban transport of Limassol, that Petros Theocharidis jokingly called them, "somewhat scary".

"It is not Cypriot conditions to have to deal with queues of passengers at the new port of Limassol, when a bus arrives every 5 minutes," he told us characteristically. He added that the Passenger Transport Company and the other involved agencies are making efforts to serve these visitors in the best way, regarding urban regular routes within Limassol, given the importance of the arrival of hundreds of large cruise ships for the city's economy.

Important cooperation for the Passenger Transport Company is also being prepared with the British Bases which show a strong interest in expanding the bus routes to and from Episkopi and Akrotiri, in order for the staff of the bases and their families to move for their needs, to Limassol. It is worth noting that research has been carried out on these lines and there is great interest in utilizing them, so the Passenger Transport Company is already "running" procedures for permanent stops at the bases.

In addition to these, the Passenger Transport Company is in negotiations with the Municipality of Ypsonas in order to create two internal circular routes with new buses, within the territory of the Municipality. The aim of these is to serve mainly students in the afternoons, moving to and from private lessons. Discussions are ongoing with the Municipality of Germasogeia for the preparation of an internal route.
