Anexartisias Street: Consultation on one way road completed

An open presentation of the results of the scientifically structured public consultation, which was conducted for the single tracking of Anexartisias Street, will be held on the 2nd or 3rd week of June, by the researchers who organized it on behalf of ETEK. As one of the scholars, Professor Grigoris Kalnis, reported to "Entrepreneurial Limassol", the presentation will take place as soon as the results report is ready, both of the workshops that were conducted with representatives of specific Agencies or organized groups, as well as of the electronic questionnaire that was accessible for the public, until the end of May.

The presentation of the results, as Mr. Kalnis explained, will take place in person, so that a discussion with the audience will follow. The results will then be forwarded to the Municipal Council, while they will remain available for anyone who wants to read them. According to Mr. Kalni, 40 representatives of different bodies related to Anexartisias road were invited to the workshops or had taken part in procedures related to it.

At the same time, they have collected around 1100 responses to the online questionnaire. "There was a lot of participation and representation from agencies, organized groups and citizens", the researcher concluded, adding that the effort was to have a dialogue through the workshops with more focused groups that could express an opinion, but also with an open process, a dialogue with the wider audience. The Public consultation will conclude with the presentation and after the opinions or concerns of the participants will be submitted, they will also be submitted in the final report that will be given to the Municipal Council.

Grigoris Kalnis clarified that the ETEK researchers will not give a proposal to the Municipality but will submit the results of the whole process to the Local Authority. He explained that these will also include statistical data, so that the Municipal Council can see the pulse of the people, in relation to questions that have been asked in the questionnaire. Since the purpose of the process is not for the scholars to decide, but to submit all the opinions, concerns of the people, experts, affected and involved, that have to do with the commercial street in the city centre.

He added that the Limassol Municipality, after receiving the material, will use it, if necessary, further technical or traffic studies will be carried out and it is up to the local authority how to continue from there on. "It is not a matter of the consultation to give an executive decision to the Municipality, it will decide how to proceed", Professor Kalnis concluded.
