The Limassol Tourism Board participates as a lead partner in the CYCLING ROUTES project: Souni, Zanakia, Kyvides, Sotira, Erimi, Episkopi, Agios Amvrosios, Agios Therapon, Lofou and Vouni. The project is financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development within the framework of the Rural Development Program for the period 2014-2020. As part of the project and with the aim of promoting Limassol as a cycling destination, the Limassol Tourism Board took part in the cycling exhibition organized in Zurich from 11 to 14 May 2023. The 'Cycle Week' exhibition was organized for the 4th time and is Switzerland's largest cycling exhibition. 110 exhibitors participated in the exhibition, while 120 workshops and lectures related to the promotion of cycling culture were held.
Limassol Tourism Board participated with a stand at the exhibition where special forms of tourism were promoted, specifically bicycle tourism. Informational material was also provided regarding cycling opportunities in the Limassol district. In particular, within the framework of the exhibition, we talked with several visitors regarding the cycling routes in the city and the countryside, the degree of difficulty, the terrain morphology, the altitude as well as the ideal visiting period for cycling tourism. A large number of Swiss as well as tourists visited the exhibition.
Our participation in the exhibition provided the opportunity to promote Limassol as a cycling destination and subsequently to be included as an option in the future cycling excursions of those interested. Undoubtedly, the whole experience was very constructive and contributes to the overall effort of Limassol to upgrade and promote the area for bicycle tourism.
