The European Project GreenComp Enterprises aims to support entrepreneurs and start-ups, providing them with the opportunity to develop and improve their knowledge, skills and abilities in sustainable entrepreneurship, while supporting the start-up of new or the evolution of existing companies into sustainable and environmental enterprises. The mission of GreenComp Enterprises will be achieved through the development of innovative educational materials, the implementation of hybrid training programs, as well as through personal coaching. The educational material expected to be developed in the context of the project will include modules such as entrepreneurship, social and environmental sustainability, financial knowledge and other related areas.
The GreenComp Enterprises project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union, and started its operations in December 2022 and is implemented in the framework of the Partnerships for Cooperation in Adult Education under the Key Action KA220-ADU. The opening meeting of the project partners took place in Copenhagen. The partner participating in the project from Cyprus is Magnetar Ltd www.magnetar.com.cy .
Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Italy and Sweden are the six EU countries that will benefit from the services that the project will develop and provide. The coordinator of the project is DANITACOM (Denmark). The consortium also includes the organizations OECON Group Bulgaria (Bulgaria), MAGNETAR (Cyprus), People of 2050 (Denmark), INZEB (Greece), Materahub (Italy), Sensus (Sweden) as project partners.
An important action that has been successfully implemented was the 6 online Focus Group with the participation of relevant agencies and businesses in each partner country. The purpose of the specific Focus Groups, was to detect, identify, understand the obstacles, weaknesses and challenges related to sustainable business practices. The main conclusions that emerged from the meetings with the Focus Groups of each country are listed below:
· - Sustainability
must be an integral part of a company's DNA. Gradual and steady integration can
bring multiple benefits.
· - Drawing
up a concrete business plan that respects the environment and focuses on the
contribution of individuals is essential.
· - Hiring
people who embrace the company's values and are motivated to activate and implement
their vision for sustainability may be a significant comparative advantage in
achieving the goal.
· - Good
business knowledge can be applied to sustainability-related skills. Finding
sponsors willing to support small and sustainable companies can be beneficial
for businesses and their stakeholders.
· - Challenges
and obstacles facing businesses include supply chain and energy sources due to
resistance to change, limited expertise, complex regulations and high upfront
costs.
· - Communication and networking are also fundamental for businesses to share knowledge and best practices.
The main purpose of GreenComp Enterprises is the utilization of the knowledge that will be produced by the companies and by extension the guidance of those companies that are interested in changing their mentality towards the development and adoption of a Business Sustainability Manual and practices within their daily operation.
