The shift to Sustainable Urban Mobility and the transformation of Limassol into a climate-neutral and smart city, as well as the effort to alleviate the housing problem in the city, are reflected in the Municipality's budgets for 2023. The Municipality's revenues for 2023 are estimated at €54 million and expenses at €49 million, of which development costs amount to €26 million. The Development Budget foresees important traffic congestion mitigation projects in the course of the implementation of the Limassol Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, while the social cohesion-related actions include further strengthening the Reintegration Centre ‘’Skhedia’’ (Raft), the Center for Adults, and the Center for Social Programs " Ploutis Servas Block of Flats" are strengthened.
In 2023, the procedures for the large affordable housing project with the Cyprus Land Development Organization will proceed further, after the signing of an agreement for the construction of 600 residential units in three municipal blocks, a project that is expected to be completed in 2026. The Municipal Council was emphatic that the inclusion of Limassol in the European program Mission "100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities by 2030" is a great success and at the same time a challenge, which opens perspectives for its real transformation until 2030.
The cleaning services, which have come under strong criticism from citizens, will be strengthened in 2023 with new equipment and additional staff, while digital applications and a 24-hour service will be expanded to serve the public. Special mention was also made of the long-term planning for the Limassol Metropolitan Park. Culture-wise reference was made to the simultaneous promotion of the Limassol Carnival Museum, the Sports History Museum and the Christos Papadopoulos house-museum.
