Germasogia pedestrian pathway and bicycle cycle path: Offers coming soon

The Town Planning Department is processing the last details regarding the preparation of the documents for the construction of the first phase of the Germasogia-Agios Athanasios coastal pedestrian walkway, which is expected to be announced within January 2023. Germasogia Mayor Kyriakos Xydias told "Entrpreneurial Limassol" that the commissioning authority for the project is the Department of Town Planning and the Municipality will pay its contribution to the Department.

The cost is estimated to be lower than the €3.5 million originally estimated, since the part of the project that is within the boundaries of Agios Athanasios municipality has been removed from the first phase. This first phase of the project will extend west from the Limassol Nautical Club to the Atlantica Miramare hotel in the east and as Mr. Xydias told us, "where there is a pedestrian path it will be reconstructed and where there is none it will be completed".

A pedestrian walkway will be added in front of the two Nautical Clubs (Limassol, Famagusta), which will be connected to the existing one in Dasoudi and another section of pedestrian walkway will be built in front of the Public Swimming Pool and next to private property, so that it can be connected with the pedestrian walkway of Atlantica Miramare. Because the existing bike path on the beach road is interrupted, due to lack of space where the Anna Court complex is located, at this point it has been planned to pass through Dasoudi, (behind Anna Court), next to Pizza Hut and the Park Beach Hotel and further north of the CTO restaurant, to go down to the beach next to the Public Swimming Pool and reach Atlantica Miramare.

The Germasogia Mayor said that since tenders will be announced in January, and assuming there are no appeals to the Tender Review Authority, the project will start in 2023 and be completed within 20 months. In the future, during the 2nd phase, the pedestrian walkway will be extended to the west side of the Crowne Plaza hotel, also with a bridge, to facilitate connection with that of Olympia Beach pathway. The second phase, Mr. Xydias said, is now being redesigned in the wake of a dispute involving private properties in the area.
