Impressive building of the Post-secondary Vocational Education Institutes in Germasogeia is completed

The state-of-the-art building that will house the Post-secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training, in the Stroggylos are Germasogeia Municipality, is expected to be delivered by the contracting company that undertook its construction as early as next month. Having this in mind, the relevant services of the Ministry of Education are making efforts and are optimistic that they will succeed in putting into operation programs in the new building, from next September.

For an "ornament" building, as characterized by the parties involved, an amount of €8.2 million has been donated by the organization Absolute Charitable Trust, the founder and benefactor of which is Alexander Svetakov. It will host programs related to tourism, such as cooking, confectionery, baking, as well as workshops for mechanical engineering, such as plumbing, heating, coolants and aluminum.

According to the Director of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Dr. Elias Markatzis, the laboratories will be state-of-the-art and flexible to serve many different programs, which will be differentiated, depending on labor market demand.  "For example, there is a new technology room where we will have CNS machines, robotic systems, 3d printers. This technology fits into many different programs and in this way we will be able to diversify our programs", said Dr. Markatzis.

The signing of the agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and the organization Absolute Charitable Trust for the donation, took place during an event held at the Presidential Palace on 6 October 2017. It is worth noting that due to the imminent operation of the Post-secondary Institute in this area, which is adjacent to the cluster of schools in the Municipality of Agios Athanasios (which is already causing great traffic congestion), the two Municipalities and the Minister of Transport are making efforts to accelerate the construction of the section of the northern bypass in their areas.

At the same time, works are being carried out in the Municipality of Germasogeia in order to construct the road that will lead to the Institute, and to connect the building with the sewerage system. Moreover, there are plans for an important rainwater drainage project to be carried out in the area shortly.
