From the Digital Agenda to the Digital Compass for Europe digitally enhanced by 2030

A new term, the Digital Compass, seems to succeed the Digital Agenda 2020 and will get into our vocabulary as the European Commission attempts to shape the vision and goals for Europe's successful digital transformation and propose ways to achieve it by 2030. The relevant announcements of the European Commission do not mention the problems mainly of bureaucracy that result in the EU being behind in terms of new technologies compared to the rest of its competitors and reiterates its ambition "to occupy a dominant position in the digital sector in an open and interconnected world and to implement digital policies that allow citizens and businesses to benefit from a sustainable a digital future with prosperity and a focus on people".

In particular, the European Commission is proposing a Digital Compass to flesh out the EU's digital ambitions for 2030. The Digital Compass is developed based on the following fundamental points:
Existence of a population with digital skills and professionals with high digital training. By 2030, at least 80% of all adults should have basic digital skills.
Development of secure, efficient and sustainable digital infrastructures. By 2030, all EU households should have gigabit connectivity and all residential areas should have 5G coverage. Digitise public services. By 2030, all key public services should be available online.

Following the European directives and at the same time seeing the weaknesses we have faced in the context of the pandemic, digital upgrading is a one-way street.
