Limassol Chamber Visited By Candidate For Mayoralty

Former MP and candidate for Limassol mayor in the December 2016 municipal elections, Nicos Nicolaides, visited the Limassol Chamber premises recently and held a meeting with members of the LCCI Board.

Welcoming Nicolaides, Chamber President Costas Galatariotis referred to the excellent cooperation that has always characterized relations between the LCCI and the Limassol Municipality. He noted, moreover, that the Chamber is following closely developments regarding the mooted process of local government reform.

On his part, Nicolaides said he valued very highly the work done by the Limassol Chamber, pointing out that the dynamism and contribution of the business community is vitally important to the city. There is a lot of know-how in Limassol which should be put to good use, and could provide a massive boost for the city. Nicolaides expressed the opinion that whoever holds the position of Limassol mayor needs to be, among others, a good coordinator at different levels, including in what should be a joint effort towards finding the resources required to accommodate the city’s developmental and other needs.

The LCCI Board members and Nicolaides also discussed other issues that are of concern to the business community, and to the citizens of Limassol in general, including the problem of traffic congestion, the (non) availability of adequate parking places, municipal fees, etc.
