The series of events honouring the 60 years of life and creative work of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry was completed with an imposing Gala Dinner, under the auspices and personal presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus. Ministers, MPs, mayors and other officials, as well as dozens of Chamber members, graced the brilliant event with their presence. Standing out was the presence of the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry, who travelled to Cyprus especially to be present at the 60th anniversary dinner of the Limassol Chamber.
Addressing the event, Limassol Chamber President Andreas Tsouloftas made a brief reference to the historical evolution of the Chamber and the purposes it was set to serve, supporting its members and promoting the development needs of the city and district of Limassol. Mr. Tsouloftas referred to specific projects that were implemented with the substantial contribution of the LCCI, praised the role of all former Chamber presidents and thanked all the members for their significant support, noting in particular the fact that 26 Limassol companies remain members of the Chamber for 60 consecutive years. He also thanked the sponsors of the official dinner, Alpha Mega Hypermarkets, Bank of Cyprus and the Four Seasons Hotel, as well as PwC, which sponsored the special book published on the occasion of the 60th anniversary.
In his own greeting, the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades, in addition to his reference to the Government economic record, praised the role played by the Chamber in the last six decades, among other things in the dramatic transformation of Limassol for the better, into a modern international business centre and a pole of attraction for locals and foreigners. The highlight of the evening was the awarding of honorary plaques, by the President of the Republic, to the companies whose support to the Chamber has been expressed in 60 years of uninterrupted presence as members.
