Limassol Chamber Event on How to Reduce Electricity Bills

The possibilities available to enterprises to secure lower electricity bills by means of making optimum use of the correct Electricity Authority tariff were outlined before an audience of Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry members during a presentation organized and hosted by the Chamber.

In charge of the presentation was Sotos Savva, Deputy Head of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) in Limassol who, in addition to explaining the various tariffs that enterprises can choose from, cited specific examples based on real bills, showing how final amounts can be altered in favour of consumers who make use of the most suitable tariff for their business.

The event, which took place in the presence of EAC Acting General Manager Antonis Patsalis, started with a welcoming address by Michalis Neoptolemou, on behalf of Chamber Vice President/Industry Charalambos Pattihis. Mr. Neoptolemou referred to the negative repercussions of expensive electricity on the competitiveness of enterprises and set out specific proposals that could lessen the problem.

Addressing the event on behalf of the EAC was Supply Manager Yiangos Frangoulides, who referred to the Authority’s priority which, he said, is to render the best service to consumers. Both Mr. Frangoulides and Mr Patsalis underlined the need for Cyprus to draw up and implement a long-term energy policy.

The event ended with a Q&A session. The EAC stated its readiness to advise each individual company on the sort of tariff that is best suited to its line of business and power consumption. The Limassol Chamber has already notified all its members accordingly.
