LCCI: Promotion of Pentakomo Technopark abroad

Presentations aimed at promoting the Pentakomo Scientific and Technological Park to investors abroad were recently held in London and Tel Aviv, under a joint initiative launched by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA), with the Limassol Chamber being present in both. The two cities were selected on the grounds that the UK and Israel possess long-term know-how and experience when it comes to the setting up, management and optimum running of Scientific and Technological Parks, in addition to their great advances in the fields of research and development.

The presentations involved information about the procedures, the location and the kind of Scientific and Technological Park that is to be set up in Cyprus, as well as about the incentives on offer. The whole venture attracted substantial interest, both in London and Tel Aviv, from enterprises and universities alike.

The Limassol Chamber was represented in the Tel Aviv presentation by President Costas Galatariotis and Senior Officer Nikolas Iordanou, while the latter was also present at the London presentation. The LCCI representatives held a series of meetings with potential investors and discussions were held on the possibilities of cooperation in several areas. Reference was also made to the Limassol Chamber’s participation in European programmes, as well as to initiatives undertaken by the Chamber towards promoting entrepreneurship and the economic development of Limassol.

Having made the case for the Pentakomo Scientific and Technological Park and supported the whole idea in various ways, the Limassol Chamber hails the positive developments in the direction of the actual implementation of the project and will continue playing a part in promoting the project to strategic investors. It is the firm belief of the Chamber that this is a project with high added value and one that could contribute substantially to the Cyprus economy. It will constitute the backbone for the development of research and innovation and the promotion innovation-based entrepreneurship, in addition to attracting foreign investment in technology and in the production and export of innovative products and patents, not to mention the positive effect of helping ease unemployment.

The Limassol Chamber takes this opportunity to express its thanks to the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, to CIPA and the Embassies of Cyprus in the UK and Israel for their cooperation.
