The Citizen Service Centre (CSC) is moving

Cooperative property in the center of Limassol is claimed by the Ministry of Finance, to relocate the Citizen Service Center, which currently operates in an inappropriate and inaccessible building on the coastal road in the old harbor area. As stated in ‘Entrepreneurial Limassol’ the Deputy Director of the Department of Administration and Staff of the Ministry of Finance, Lenia Orphanidou, the aim is to operate the central CSC of Limassol in a modern building, which will be in the most appropriate location in city in order to better serve the citizens.

Moreover, apart from the problems arising from the age of the building, complaints are repeatedly made by citizens for problems to access the CSC as it is located in a busy area, with few parking spaces. The specific request was submitted to the committee examining the applications for the Cooperative Buildings, which consists of the Directors-General of the Ministries of Interior, Finance and Transport.  This development cancelled the plans for the creation of a CSC on the ground floor of the offices of the Department of Road Transport in Polemidia Forest.

Two years ago, the Department of Public Works had announced a tender for the renovation of the specific building and the ground floor in three phases against a budgeted cost of 535 thousand euros. However, the competition was cancelled due to a lack of interest. Furthermore, as Mrs Orphanidou pointed out, if the request for a cooperative building is not met, the decision taken by the Council of Ministers to operate a new CSC at the Licensing Authority, with 17 employees and nine service desks will be applied.

The possibility of operating a CSC in this area, by relocating to another building on the coastal road, is also not excluded. In this case, Limassol will have a total of three CSCs, the latter running since last year in Kolossi.  At the same time, efforts are being made to find a space for the operation of another CSC covering eastern Limassol. Following the poor results of the Department of Public Administration efforts to rent premises, the department is now focusing on the search for state land for the construction of a privately owned building.
