In its capacity as partner in the KA3–Support for Policy Reform programme under the title “Apprenticeship Helpdesk for Small & Medium Size Enterprises”, which aims at setting up a national service in support of apprenticeship for SMEs, the Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry attended a recent meeting in London, along with another seven organizations/partners from Cyprus, Poland and the United Kingdom.
As an intermediary body between vocational training institutes and the labour market, the Limassol Chamber aspires to contribute towards employers’ having optimum knowledge of the newly reformed vocational training/apprenticeship institution, as well as of the benefits they might derive by recruiting apprentices who are seeking the acquisition of on-the-job experience.
Capitalizing on the know-how of the United Kingdom, and especially of the Association of Employment and Learning Providers Ltd (AELP), the ultimate objective is to set up an electronic platform, indeed the first Online Apprenticeship Resource Center in Cyprus and in Poland, a tool that enterprises would be able to access freely to obtain information about the New Apprenticeship System and, if they so wish, recruit apprentices.
As part of the programme Cyprus SMEs currently have the opportunity to facilitate the whole effort by participating in a questionnaire-based research, for which more information can be obtained by contacting the offices of the Limassol Chamber.
