The currently under construction Germasogeia bypass, is seen as catalyst towards the implementation of two more important projects in the Municipality, the regeneration of its traditional core and the linear park of the river Amathos, both of which will contribute to upgrading the area and the quality of life. Viewed as more mature and heading towards implementation with the completion of the 1st phase of the bypass at the end of 2022, is the renovation of the traditional core, of the Agia Paraskevi parish.
According to Mayor Kyriakos Xydias, an offer has already been announced for a designer who will prepare the construction plans. The aim is to complete the evaluation of the offers and to award the contract for the design by February. As the Mayor explained, the core of Agia Paraskevi is well defined, so the designer will plan the undergrounding of all services and will indicate the points that will be paved.
At the same time, the Local Authority is in consultation with the family that owns specific properties in the square of the core, in an effort to bring them into its ownership, in order to be utilized in ways for uses that will add value to the historic center of the municipality. Regarding the linear park along the riverbed of Amathos (between it and the bypass under construction), the Municipality has prepared a survey and sent it to the involved government departments. Both the Town Planning and Water Development Departments have expressed a positive view of the project and gave guidelines on how the local authority can carry on with the procedures.
The Municipality of Germasogeia, based on the instructions from the two government departments, will proceed with the commissioning of a master plan, ahead of going prior to going ahead with actual construction plans. As Kyriakos Xydias explained, this project still needs time to mature and be ready for implementation.
