A wide range of issues pertinent to the economic and business side of Limassol were discussed during a recent visit to the Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry by Andreas Hillyer, Deputy Chief/ Political and Economic, of the USA embassy in Cyprus. On her first visit to the Chamber since taking office in Cyprus last September, Mrs Hillyer met with President Costas Galatariotis and Vice-Presidents Liakos Theodorou, Heros Miltiadous and Anthi Theocharous.
The American official was informed of the particular economic characteristics of Limassol as the city where there is intense business activity in many areas such as land development and construction industry, manufacturing, trade and tourism, as well as the shipping industry where Limassol is already one of the world's leading ship management centers.
Reference was also made to Chamber initiatives, including efforts to set up a technology park and to facilitate the construction of affordable housing units for rental purposes. The Chamber officials also reiterated the Chamber's (and Cyprus’) long-standing desire to welcome American investments to the island.
