Limassol to develop ‘’Epaminondas plot’’

Consultations for the finalization of operations and facilities that will be developed in the plot of land known as "Epaminondas", with an area of 15 thousand square meters, which were acquired by half in 2019, the Ministry of Transport and the Municipality of Limassol, are in progress. The Limassol Municipality has announced its plans for the creation of cultural Infrastructure on the plot, however the Ministry of Transport has reserved its own announcements.

Ministry sources told "Entrepreneurial Limassol" that plans for the creation of a modern Bus Transit Station have been prepared. However, the Department of Public Works, which prepared them, told us that relevant information will be released in March. According to information obtained by ‘’Entrepreneurial Limassol’’, the reason why the Ministry of Transport is on standby is because it is examining whether it is possible to utilize the Epaminondas plot for another important use for which it is in search of space in Limassol.

Limassol Mayor Nikos Nicolaides recently announced that the Municipality aims to create a House of Culture to solve a triple problem, "the lack of housing for several cultural institutions and groups in the city, the lack of space to exhibit archives and collections of Limassol residents who wish to donate them to the Municipality and the difficulty of finding workshops and studios for artists and creators, especially young artists ". The project was preceded by consultations with institutions, groups and people of culture.

The Municipality Technical Services have prepared a preliminary architectural proposal that provides ground floor parking for 150 vehicles. The building will include a large basement for storing archival material, a conference space for music and theatrical performances, exhibitions and other events, spaces to serve the needs of cultural associations and organized groups, for permanent or long-term exhibition of private collections and archives, workshops, studios. The cost of the project is estimated at around €3 million and the relevant funds have been included in the 2022 and 2023 budgets.
