The 1st Study Group with Industry (125th European Study Group with Industry, www.esgi-cy.org) is taking place in Limassol 5-9 December 2016, with the aim to initiate and enable the establishment of long-term collaborations between academia and industry. Study Groups with Industry bring together, under one roof, mathematicians and other researchers with advanced mathematical expertise who, through intensive teamwork, solve important challenges businesses and the society face nowadays. Initiated at the University of Oxford in 1968, Study Groups have since then been successfully organized in more than 20 countries, and they are an internationally recognized method of knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

The 125th ESGI is organised by the members of the Mathematics for Industry Network (MI-NET)  in Cyprus in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology. MI-NET is an EU-funded network (COST Action TD1409) of 31 countries which facilitates the application of mathematics to all industrial sectors and other sciences. The 125th ESGI is also sponsored by MI-NET and KPMG Cyprus and is supported by the University of Cyprus, the Research Promotion Foundation, the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the British High Commission in CyprusRTD Talos Ltd, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, the Cyprus Mathematical Society, the European Office of Cyprus, and the CUT Enterprise Liaison Office.

An invitation with registration details will also be circulated for the closing event of the Study Group (9th December, 12.00-2.45pm, Poseidonia Beach Hotel).
