Greek Ambassador visits Limassol Chamber

Issues of common interest were discussed during a recent visit to the offices of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), of the new Greek Ambassador to Cyprus Ioannis Papameletiou.

Informing the Greek diplomat about economic and business developments of Limassol, LCCI President Andreas Tsouloftas noted that in addition to the daily support to its member companies, the Chamber plays an important role in promoting a series of development projects in the city and district. He noted that although Limassol has been experiencing rapid economic growth in recent years, there is still much to be done.

More specifically, Mr. Tsouloftas referred to the continuous efforts of the Chamber to proceed with the long-planned for the Pentakomo area Technology Park, which, he pointed out, will offer a significant impetus to research and innovation. There are, he continued, foreign investors who are interested in the project, an interest that is expected to be expressed in practice as soon as the competent ministry completes, and announces, its own plans related to the park.

The Chamber awaits in the meantime the announcement of the Limassol Centre Area Plan, which will be the starting kick, among other things, for the multifaceted development of the hitherto degraded area between the marina and the new Limassol port, for which there is already a serious investment interesting, from locals and foreigners, building and other developments that will radically change the area for the better.

The Chamber President also noted the new ongoing effort for the sea connection between Cyprus and Greece, expressing optimism that there will be a positive result. He also noted that both in the aforementioned and in other projects, the participation of Greek entrepreneurship is welcome and desirable.

On his part, Ambassador Mr. Papameletiou stressed that his office remains at the disposal of the Chamber and the business community of Limassol, in the joint effort for further strengthening of Cyprus-Greece economic and business relations.

Attending the meeting with the Greek ambassador, on the part of LCCI, in addition to the President Andreas Tsouloftas, were the ex-President Costas Galatariotis and Board members Despina Theodosiou and Pavlos Paradisiotis.
