A highly successful event, organized by the Purchase and Supply Management – Shipping department, of the Post-Secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training, was recently hosted at the premises of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). With Lina Ellina, Academic Coordinator of the Purchase and Supply Management – Shipping department as a moderator, the event, entitled "The World of Business and Shipping in the Facet of the Challenges of the Economy", featured an introductory greeting from Ioannis Efstratiou, Senior Ship Inspector at the Shipping Deputy Ministry, included presentations by Assistant General Manager of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber Alex Josephides, the Chairman of the Department of Maritime Studies at Frederick University Angelos Menelaou and the Director of Accounting at Columbia Shipmanagement Anna Ioannides.
Both Mr Efstratiou and the three panellists referred to the great importance of the shipping sector for our country as well as to the many promising lucrative employment prospects both in shipping as such and in related sectors such as Purchase and Supply Management. An introductory presentation was also made by LCCI, focusing on Limassol entrepreneurial activity at current juncture, as well as businesses' perception of the real economy, their concerns and anxieties and their anticipation and expectations for the future, the reference point being the findings of the latest (Autumn 2019) Chamber Business Barometer. The Chamber also commended the work done by the Post-Secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training and the excellent cooperation between the two organizations. Concluding the event was a reception offered by another prominent program Post-Secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training, that of Bakery-Pastry.
