The 4th Business Forum in the context of the European project E-Business Pages, which makes part of the Interreg Balkan Med transnational and territorial cooperation instrument, was recently held in Sofia (Bulgaria). The Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), as project partner, coordinated the Cypriot mission with the participation of 5 companies, all LCCI members.
European Commissioner for Digital Economy & Society Mariya Gabriel, who was the keynote speaker at the event, congratulated the E-Business Pages project partners and highlighted the importance of such programmes which upgrade relations and cooperation between European countries. Mrs. Gabriel referred to the European Union strategy and policy to strengthen the digital economy and, at the same time, to the challenges and prospects that arise. She stressed that the development of the digital economy would contribute to improving the competitiveness of the European market and as such it represents an EU priority.
Subsequently, representatives of companies from Cyprus, Greece, Albania and Northern Macedonia presented their business activities before Bulgarian companies. The forum was completed with B2B meetings, providing the opportunity to interested companies to develop possible business partnerships. Through the implementation of the e-Business Pages project, encouragement is given to the networking and cooperation between the Balkan countries and Cyprus, the exchange and transfer of know-how and good practices and the strengthening of business relations in various sectors of the economy, aiming to increase competitiveness. Three similar business forums were previously held in Athens, Tirana and Bitola. The fifth and final one will be held in Limassol on June 25-26.
