GSO Sports Centre in a new era

In a meeting scheduled for later this month, Limassol Mayor Nicos Nicolaides will discuss with new Cyprus Sports Organization (CSO) President Andreas Michaelides the final details regarding the agreement whereby the Fytidion GSO Sports Centre will be transferred jointly to the Limassol Municipality and the Cyprus University of Technology, a deal that has been pending for over a year. The Limassol Mayor told ‘’Entrepreneurial Limassol’’ that the relevant contracts have been corrected on the basis of the comments of the Auditor General and the legal issues he had raised.

The agreement provides for the concession of the park to the Limassol Municipality, which in turn will transfer the management of the sports facilities to the Cyprus University of Technology for the needs of its student community as well as of the general public. The municipality will undertake repairs and remodeling of the premises in order to house the Limassol Athletic Museum and other services

Offers will be invited for the rental of a cafeteria and a pavilion, and the preparations for the creation of a gym will begin. The Strategic Management Plan drawn up by the two strategic partners provides for the transformation of the GSO into an area that will highlight its historicity and respect its architectural structure while also providing sports training for the entire Limassol sociaty.
