Science Technology Park: Prospects for New Markets

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) welcomed the great investment interest showed by a recognized foreign body for the creation of the Science Technology Park in Pentakomo.
The tender submitted by the Thai consortium Wyncoast, which owns and manages technology parks in Thailand, is expected to create great potential in research, development and innovation.
Expressing hope for an immediate assessment of the offer by the relevant authorities, the President of LCCI, Costas Galatariotis, notes that the investor’s desire is to be assigned the project and begin its construction as soon possible.
Furthermore, Galatariotis explains that due to the fact that the investor comes from an Asian country, then prospects are opening up for companies to be active in countries where Cyprus is not quite known.

“Apart from tenants from Israel, Russia and Arab countries, which are expected to show interest in the Park, we believe that interest will arise from new markets,” says Galatariotis.
Noting that LCCI had supported the implementation of this important project, he also highlights the crucial contribution of CIPA in all efforts to find an investor.
The President of the Thai Group, Jak Chamikorn, accompanied by the President of CIPA, Christodoulos Angastiniotis and the Vice-President of CIPA, Angelos Gregoriades, visited on Friday, January 20, the Minister of Energy, Industry and Tourism, George Lakkotrypis for the submission of the tender.
Congratulating the organisation for the success of its efforts, Lakkotrypis stressed the importance of its mission to promote Cyprus abroad as an attractive investment destination.

On his part, the President of CIPA, expressed his satisfaction with this positive development, noting that “this is a good example of the positive prospects that foreign investors perceive in important, traditional and emerging sectors of the economy.”
Under the terms and provisions of the competition, for which interest was shown on the last day for the submission of tenders, the proposal received, will be reviewed by the relevant Evaluation Committee, which will submit its recommendations to the Tender Board of the Ministry of Energy at a later stage.
The competition involved the lease of state land area of 328,000sq.m. for a period of 50 years, for the development of the Science and Technology Park at the Pentakomo area, in Limassol.
